Last month, on Easter Sunday, we witnessed the horrific bombings of three churches and three luxury hotels in Sri Lanka by radical Muslim terrorists that killed over 250 Christian worshippers and wounded approximately 500 more!
And just this morning, in the West African town of Dablo in Burkina Faso, terrorists burned down a Catholic church during mass and murdered six people, including the priest!
Lately, here in America, we have also witnessed an escalation in the burning of Christian churches and the killing of Christians and Jews even as they worshipped in their churches and synagogues.
Some Food For Thought
The outrageous, but not surprising, persecution and blatant cold-blooded murder of Christians and Jews seems to be on the rise in every corner of the world today, including here in the U.S.A.!
In the Bible, Jesus’ prophecy makes it perfectly clear what has happened throughout the ages and seems to be escalating today. “. . . in fact, the time is coming when anyone who kills you will think they are offering a service to God. They will do such things because they have not known the Father or Me.” (John 16:2-3)
Jesus goes on to prophesy about what the end times will look like:
“Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains.
Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of Me. At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
For then there will be great tribulation (my bold), such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be. And if those days had not been cut short, no human being would be saved. But for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short.
Immediately after the distress of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.
Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. And He will send His angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather His elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.
But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.
Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect Him.” (Matthew 24:4-14, 21-22, 29-44)
In some corners of the world where people are currently facing horrible living conditions, starvation, deplorable health services and diseases, and religious and political persecution even to the point of death, you have to wonder if they aren’t already in the midst of experiencing their “great tribulation”?
So, how might the wealthiest most powerful nation in the world experience this “great tribulation”? What might it look like and what might possibly ignite such a catastrophic event?
To be clear, I have absolutely no idea what this “great tribulation” will look like in every corner of the world, no one does except God. I am not a prophet so the content below only reflects my thoughts, not predictions, on what it could look like here in America.
In light of all the news swirling around after the release of the Mueller Report on President Trump, and especially since he was found innocent of colluding with the Russians or obstructing justice to effect the outcome of his election, here is what I’ve been thinking about lately relative to biblical end-times prophecy:
I shudder to think what might happen if Attorney General William Barr’s investigation into who really planned and instigated the spying on the Trump campaign, and when it actually started, leads to the indictment and prosecution of Hillary and Bill Clinton, John and Tony Podesta, Paul Campetta, Judith Casper, Barack OBama, Joe Biden, Eric Holder, Loretta Lynch, Sally Yates, Susan Rice, Valerie Jarret, James Comey, John Brennan, James Clapper, Andrew McCabe, Peter Strzok, Lisa Page, Nellie and Bruce Ohr, Glenn Simpson, Christopher Steele, James Baker, Rod Rosenstein, Bob Mueller, Andrew Weissman and the rest of Mueller’s staff of left-leaning lawyers, all of whom tried to frame Donald Trump for crimes they themselves clearly have committed as the real facts are beginning to reveal. Then, some or all of the above individuals are found guilty and sentenced to major jail time.
If all of this were to happen, which I must admit seems next to impossible, how difficult would it be to imagine radical militant groups like ANTIFA and others once again being quickly and systematically organized and paid to rise up and rain down death and destruction on anyone and anything that represents a threat to their ideology and the above individuals they have placed their faith in?
This kind of radical hateful behavior could lead to another civil war in America that would dwarf the death and destruction documented in the war between the North and South!
This time it could be a civil war between conservatives and liberals, between believers in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and unbelievers. The division between these groups seems to be getting wider and uglier by the day!
America, let us all wake up before it’s too late! We have got to stop hating and hurting each other just because we think differently, speak differently, favor different political parties, and have different religious beliefs.
Let us all commit, or recommit, to respecting and defending the wisdom and rights found in our amazing, one-of-a-kind, time-tested Constitution and our rule of law which insures that no one is above the law and that a person is innocent of any crime until proven guilty.
And, most importantly, if we all committed to live out God’s command to “. . . Love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 12:31), it might go a long way to restoring broken relationships.
Lord, have mercy on our great nation You have so richly blessed since its founding, in spite of our sinful ways!
In closing, if you are seriously concerned about the direction America and our entire world is heading, and more importantly, if you are seriously concerned about where you personally will spend eternity after the “great tribulation” Jesus warns of, then the book I recently wrote, What IN the World Is Wrong With This World?/Are You Ready For the Truth? has some interesting and factual answers for you to consider.
See you next week for more Wisdom Matters!
